But if Only Time

But if Only Time

Time and time
Again you just slip past me
When I try to catch you
With both of my hands
You leave me to grab
Nothing but empty air
Leave me to try and devour as much as I can,
Leave me further and further behind,
But if only you could just stop.

I just want to grasp hold of you,
And slowly savor every moment
That I can possibly get right now,
Because every moment is precious,
Even right now,
As I cannot return part of you,
To someone.

Because you,
You never stop,
You are like a river
A river that always flows forward,
A river that never goes back,
You are like a bull,
A bull that will only charge ahead,
A bull that will never stop,
You are confident,
And you always convince me
To follow your persevering personality,
You fly faster than anything in this world,

But if only I could go that many times as fast!

  1. I like the introduction and the examples (like the river and the bull) from the third stanza.

  2. I really liked the nice metaphors in the poem, and it was very nicely descriptive.

  3. All of your metaphors worked really well, and your very last line was a nice touch at the very end. Nice job!

  4. This poem was really put together in the best way possible. You had a lot of metaphors and it really fit into the poem.
