The Loving Pool

The Loving Pool

Love is like a swimming pool
Some people start in the shallow end
Slowly taking their time
Wading their way into the deep end
As they are cautious and take their time with it
While others dive right in
Plunging into the depth
Diving blindly
Not knowing how deep it can be
Love is like a swimming pool
Sometimes it pulls you under
Not letting you up for air
Trying to suck the last breaths out of you
But once you come up
Gasping for breath
You feel safe again
Love is like a swimming pool
When you fall into it
You never want to get out
The warmth of it keeps you happy
As you spend endless hours exploring it
Love is like a swimming pool
When you aren’t using it
You put the cover on it
And take a break for a while
Waiting for the time to be right again
Love is like a swimming pool
When you get out of it
It's cold and miserable
Your body begging you to go back in
But you can’t

Knowing you will just have to feel the same pain again

  1. Good word choice and the detail you put into it helped me picture this poem a lot better. Similes are A1.

  2. All the comparisons are really cool and insightful.
