What Football Meant for Me

Football is hard

it's painful

it's physically hard

it's  mentally hard

it's emotionally hard

1st year is a pain

not knowing anything

its feels like a cloud of darkness and you can't get out

people make fun of you

or you make fun of yourself

you try to work hard

you try your best

but the coach doesn't see

or he's not impressed

you feel proud looking at yourself

but when you come out

the world is dark and cruel

you remember you're a 2nd string

you remember you're the weakest

you remember you’re not good

your emotions crumble

and you sit down, looking down and thinking of your failures

but then one man comes  and makes me laugh

makes me feel like his brother

we joke around together

we do push ups together

and complain together

but we know that us combined

we are the best

One thing I know

football is not about being a team

it's about being a family

if one messes up

we all face the consequences

because we're a family

when we feel fucked up

and feel like falling

we take the shit and stand up

because in this sport

when there is no pain

there's no gain

and if you have no gain

then it's better to just walk away as a coward

not wanting to work out

being a bitch

and if you want to keep working

keep cryin

keep dyin

keep tryin

and keep inspiring
