Heated love:
Dear evil toaster,
I truly thought i loved you,
you were hard and threatening from the outside,
you were large compared to anything else
large, dark, and dangerous
parents told kids to be careful when around you
but on the inside, you were warm
and you warmed up everything that entered your heart
you warmed me up
before i came into your life i was just bread,
but you warmed me up, made me a better
inanimate object
i was soft, innocent, breakable bread
then after i was with you, i was
stronger, harder, still breakable, but not as.
you made me perfect… until
the day you burned me
after that i only saw you with random bagels
then you left bagels for English muffins
then you left English muffins for pop tarts
the last time i saw you,
you were warming up pop tarts every morning,
making them feel warm and gooey
while i remained burnt

I like how you wrote an extended metaphor between a toaster and bread.
ReplyDeleteI thought that the description of love between the toaster and the bread was cool.
ReplyDeleteI like how you went through everything you put in a toaster.
ReplyDeleteWhat about french toast?
