Peace of Humans
Peace, not war
Peace, not war
Never worth it
The cost of lives unimaginable
For no purpose
Big corporate sponsors
Selling their ideology
Veiled behind the word:
Lobbying
For war, not peace
Trillions of dollars
Dumped into waste
Focusing their efforts on fighting from far away
Forgetting their own war, at home
Against poverty, infrastructure, health insurance, and the cost of education
War destroys relationships between countries
Peace, not war
Families torn apart
Death is their displacement
Mom promised that he would come home
I wish I said farewell
I didn’t know it would be the last time
The news hit me abruptly
It’s time for me to say goodbye
I really liked how deep and personal your poem was.
ReplyDeleteI love the repetition in the poem, it gives it a nice flow. I also really like the topic you chose for your poem. I feel like you went in depth and explained why we should choose peace.
