Prompt E
In Act.1 Scene 5
In this scene Lord Capulet and Tybalt are arguing about Romeo who is at the party where everyone who isn't a Montague. Tybalt wants Lord Capulet to kick Romeo out but Lord Capulet is brushes it off saying to isn't a big deal. I could see that Lord Capulet and Tybalt felt comfortable with each other because when they fouht it argued it was very subtle and they were calm. When people are family they tend to be more comfortable with each other. This is probably why tybalt feels comfortable complaining to Lord Capulet about how he dilikes Romeo being at their party

Act II Scene II Reaching for each Other
Prompt D

This represents Romeo and Juliet in the balcony scene because they are reaching for each other, figuratively and metaphorically. They both are trying to touch each other and love each other. They are also in different and opposite houses, hence the opposite hand colorings.

Act 2, Scene 2, Prompt E
In Act 2, Scene 2, Romeo has met Juliet once and wants to start a Relationship with her. One night they meet and kiss. Later that night, Romeo sneaks up near her balcony and see´s Juliet talking to herself. Romeo comes out of a bush and says to Juliet ¨Call me but love, and I´ll be new baptized. Henceforth I never will be Romeo¨. Juliet gets surprised and a little frightened when Romeo comes out. They start a conversation of love and then somehow start to kiss. Romeo wants to marry Juliet already, this relationship goes fast, one night. I think Romeo and Juliet do care for each other because no one wants to marry someone that just met and Romeo and Juliet are some much into love.

Issues between Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet
Passage or Issue between Act 1, scene 2 and Act 2, scene 2.
1) Romeo is a young man who is from the Montague family and young Juliet is from the Capulet family. From long ago, both families have been enemies and do not get along with each other. On act 1 and scene 5, the Capulet's party started and Romeo sees Juliet dancing. Later on, Juliet notices or sees a man with a cat-like mask who is Romeo. When they dance together they both fall in love with each other at first glance and when they find out that they are enemies from their last names, it doesn't stop them from loving each other even more. But an issues/conflict happens between their families. On act 2, scene 2 Romeo hides from the men who are looking for him and sees an open window that is from Juliet's room. This is their second time meeting each other again as Juliet sees Romeo. Both lovers ignore the consequences of having a relationship without having their parents know about them.

R and J Post 2, Act 2 Scene 2 Fernando Sillas
In Act 2 , Scene 2 why does Capulet want the wealth to stay in the family. Also if Juliet and Romeo get marries wouldn't it make both families even wealthier and make them resolve their hate once and for all.
I mean both families are pretty much identical to each other. Its like they were made to be just like each other. Lord Capulet want Juliet to marry County Paris because he wants the wealth to stay in the family but County Paris inst in the family. So just because Romeo is a Capulet, its not meant to be.

Romeo And Juliet Act 2 Scene 2 What defines us
One of my favorite quotes from the play "Romeo and Juliet" is when Juliet is talking to herself on the balcony about Romeo's name and how it doesn't affect their love, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet"(Act 2 Scene 2). I love this quote because it shows how Juliet doesn't care about any boundaries for her love. Even if Romeo is in a rivaling clan, the Montagues, while she's in the Capulet clan, she still loves him. This shows just how far Juliet is willing to go for Romeo even if she's risking her livelihood and her family's appreciation. This quote is able to display Juliet's affection and succinctly describe her love with Romeo easily and encapsulates what she's going through that allows the reader or listener to have empathy with Juliet and Romeo.

Prompt B:
Capulet- Why is Juliet HAVE to marry Paris? Not like that is the only option. (that they know of anyways)
Tybelt- Why you aggressive towards montagues?
Romeo- Do I stand corrected about love in first sight? yes
Juliet- how you be seduced so easily?
Mercutio- How come you fight till death for fun/ no reason? wait your dead nvm....
1st Post
Prompt A
On page 23 it says, "Tell me sadness, who is that you love?". I can relate to this because it is just like me and my mom. She always asks who I like, but I always tell her that I don't want to tell her. She Insists over and over, Day after day. Many times I wish I could make her to stop saying that over and over. I can keep somethings in my life private. Thank you.

Act I Scene 2-Jessey Castillo
Romeo is still sad about Rosaline but Mercutio and Benvolio tell him to get over her. And they hear about a party at the Capulets and they tell Romeo to go so he can see other girls and see if he likes any of them. They sneak in but they have to wear masks so they don't see them. Tybalt spots Romeo and wants to kill him but Lord Capulet tells him to leave him alone. Romeo dances with Juliet and goes find her again. He gets her hand and kisses it.
act 1 scene 2
Romeo goes to the Capulets party and they see him there. Tybalt wants to kill Romeo so bad but doesn't because they are at a party. For the sake of now he will remain calm but swears to kill him when he sees him again. Paris continues with the party and calms Tybalt down. Without Paris the party would've been a disaster and Romeo probably wouldn't have met Juliet.
Act 2 Scene 1
Option C:
The quote that I liked the most from this section is this,"What's in a name? that which we call a rose; By any other name would smell as sweet." It shows how Juliet is thinking, and that a name is just a name, and if the person is just a nice person you should just give them a shot to get to know them. Basically Juliet is saying that if Romeo, was named as something else he would still be a sweet thing, and a name shouldn't make you judge someone. Don't judge a book by it's cover.
Roses For R and J
Prompt D -

I chose this image of a rose with thorns to represent the relationship between Romeo and Juliet. The rose symbolizes how simply beautiful and pure the love between the two characters is. The thorns on the rose stem represent the hardships and obstacles Romeo and Juliet suffer from because of their forbidden love. This shows that not every beautiful thing that seems perfect, actually is.

Q and A for R and J
Prompt B -
Benvolio : What are your thoughts on Romeos feelings for Juliet?
Tybalt : Why are you so easily agitated?
Juliet : What struck you about Romeo?
Romeo : Why don't you love Rosaline anymore?
Friar : Why are you helping Juliet and Romeo?

Act I Scene II: Comforting a Friend
Prompt A, Act 1 Scene 2:
When Romeo seems upset by something, Benvolio wants to find out what's going on and help him feel better. I often have to comfort my friends or be comforted by them when one of us is feeling sad or mad. Many people sometimes get over upset about seemingly small things and need to be taken out or talked to so that they can start feeling better about themselves or the situation that they're in. While trying to talk to Romeo, Benvolio says, "Compare her face with some that I shall show, And I will make thee think thy swan a crow," (pg 33: Act 1, Scene 2, Line 93-94) Benvolio says this to make Romeo feel better and get him to find someone that will like him the way that he likes them.

Act 1 Scene II ~ Act 2 Scene II: Why you guys hate each other?
PROMPT B
Ask 5 interesting questions about the reading OR address 5 questions to one or more of the characters from this section of the reading, as if you were interviewing him or her. Here is an example of a student responding to this prompt for Hamlet. Remember, just ask; you do not have to answer!
Capulet- Why you force Juliet to marry with Paris?
Tybelt- Why are you so aggressive when you faced with Montagues? You need to calm yourself and think.
Romeo- Do you think you fell in love immediately?
Juliet- How you kissed with Romeo in the first met?
Mercutio- Are there any reason that you engage when Montagues and Capulets fight each other?
Question Analyse
1: If the Capulets are hosting a party why would they not check everyone that is coming? Lord Capulet obviously wants to have a good time and he said that everyone that is not a Montague is invited. Even when the Montages do arrive he does not want to spoil the party over them and the only anger he shows is towards Tybalt and not Romeo or any of the Others. Even after the party Lord Capulet seems to not bring it up again and neither does Tybalt.
2:In the scene at night where Mecurtio is ranting on and on he seems to have no specific endpoint. Was it normal for the characters within these stories just to speak with poetry and have some major voice line? They do want to have some comic relief and it does seem to make sense where it is but at some point it would not be the most pleasing to see one person within a play going on and on.
3:Why does Romeo fall head over heels when he sees Juliet? We already know that he loves Rosaline but why does he all of a sudden just love Juliet to the greatest extent after seeing her. At Romeos age he should know better. Even though she might be beautiful he should not just give up on someone else because he thinks he has found someone "better."
4:When Romeo is so up front with Juliet why is Juliet ok with this? She is a fair Maiden of the Capulet family and at least could know a little edict. When Romeo approaches her it would be creepy for him just to start talking to her even if they did notice each other before. Just randomly talking about kissing each other at first sight is not the most normal thing.
5: How does Mercurio know Romeo so well? He is one of his best friends but every time Romeo is in love he can tell and he should probably tell him something. If you had a friend that would fall in love day after day with someone more beautiful wouldn't you want them just to settle eventually and not give up on the last?

Act 1 Scene 4: Prompt C
In this scene, Romeo and Mercutio are conversing about Romeo going to find a new love at the Capulet's party. During this conversation, Romeo says, "Is love a tender thing? It is too rough, Too rude, too boist'rous, and it pricks like thorn." I like this quote because it outlines / reminds the reader and gives some insight on how Romeo's relationship went with his girlfriend.
Act I Scene V: Conflicts Foreshadowed
Act I Scene V Prompt D

I chose this image because fire doesn't get along with water. As in Act I Scene V, when Tybalt first sees Romeo, he wants to fight him, and this scene foreshadows that there will be some sort of conflict between Tybalt and Romeo in the future.

Act 2, scene 2: She's 13...
PROMPT C
"That Which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet"
I like this quote because Juliet is speaking to herself, and she is still a bit shocked that her true love is from a family that is her family's sworn enemy. This quote is meaning to say that no matter what we call romeo he will still be romeo, she is saying that his last name means nothing to her, she will still be in love with him.
"Neither, fair maid, if either thee dislike"
I also like this quote because Romeo is basically saying he would do anything she wants. At her command. He says If you don't like my name, you can call me whatever you want. We can see how in love Romeo is in this quote.
"Deny thy father and refuse thy name,"
Finally, I like this quote because she stops to ask herself if it is all worth it? She is basically saying, will I betray my father, and runaway with my true love, or stay here, and live with the pain of not knowing what would've happened between her and Romeo.

A quote is a quote...
One Romeo and Juliet quote I like is:
"What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet; So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,Retain that dear perfection which he owesWithout that title."(act 2 - scene 2; pg. 71-73)
I love this quote from Juliet. It is one of the more famous lines in the play, and the phrase "a rose is a rose by any other name" still persists to this day. It shows the thoughtfulness of Juliet and how she sees the pointlessness of conflict due simply to names. Another such quote I find interesting is:
"A thousand times the worse to want thy light.

Love goes toward love as schoolboys from their books,
But love from love, toward school with heavy looks." (act 2 - scene 2; pg. 81)
I like this quote as well, as it applies directly to my life. It provides a funny and simple dichotomy between the attraction of two lovers and the angst of a schoolboy and his classes, and giving a new perspective on similes based on opposite instead of the same.
Quote analysis
"You are a saucy boy."
Funny quote which wouldn't really be funny or insulting today, but more creepy, but it would be back then. I just chose this because I liked it
"But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun!"
Romeo is comparing Juliet to the sun instead of the moon and how he wants her to rise, also similar to the way he says she makes the torches burn bright. This quote is especially showing how in love he is with Juliet
"A plague o' both your houses!"
Mercutio has been stabbed and is going to die. He blames the two houses and is angry because it is their feud that ended up getting him killed. If the houses had stopped fighting all the deaths wouldn't have happened.

Quote Analysis
"O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?"
I like this quote because when Juliet says this she is basically asking why Romeo is a Montague, and she is asking this because she knows that if she falls for Romeo, then their families would not approve because of their ongoing feud.
"But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun!"
I like this quote because Romeo is comparing Juliet to a sunset or sunrise, but he says it in a very poetic and romantic way.
"Good night, good night. Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight til it be morrow."
After realizing that Juliet also loves Romeo, she expresses her feeling by saying that it is sad that they have to part ways for the night, but it will be a happy time when they see each other again, which is the day of their wedding.
"A plague o' both your houses!"
The tension between the Capulet and the Montague gets out of hand when a fight breaks out in the streets of Verona. Mercutio challenges Tybalt to a duel, but then he is accidentally stabbed by Tybalt and dies.

Act 1 Scene 4: The Wall
The wall represents what Romeo is faced with when he is in love with Rosaline. The problem is always there and does not go away until solved, just like how the wall stands in the path and does not let anyone pass until it is destroyed or bypassed.
Act 2 Scene 2
Act 2 Scene 2: What's the hurry to marry Juliet?
Romeo: Why do you swear by marriage when you guys only meet for about 2 hours? An hour before meeting Juliet, you said that you where heartbroken with Rosaline, then all of a sudden you say that you love Juliet. I don't think that it is called "love" if you just love her for her looks.
Juliet: Why do you make Romeo run back to the balcony? You do realize that if he falls, then he could die, right? Why are you acting so spoiled? You push your father to the limits, not to mention that your words/commands could potentially kill Romeo(although we already know how everything will turn out).
Capulet: Why you hate Montague so much? He is also looking out for the sake of his son, and also also how come the Capulet's people are trying to start a fight whenever possible with the Montague. They didn't do anything wrong, yet they just try to start a fight?!? Lord Capulet you try to fix something about this. Also what is with your mood swings, it is way too sudden.
Nurse: You need to take a chill pill. Also why were you so carefree during the party, then get anxious when Juliet runs away for a couple of minutes? Shouldn't you worry about Juliet when she was on the dance floor? There were hundreds of people, and there might be a person that is trying to get rid of the Capulet family. Shouldn't your focus during the time be on Juliet who she was meet with?

Act 1 Scene 5 - Saucy Romeo
Prompt C
Act 1 Scene 5— Capulet says to Tybalt, "You are a saucy boy. Is't so indeed? This trick may chance to scathe you. I know what. You must contrary me... You are a princox, go. Be quiet, or for shame, I'll make you quiet." Although Shakespearean language is commonly seen as unique and different, the key words "saucy" and "princox" used in this quote struck my interest. This quote uses these words to express Capulet's annoyance towards Tybalt's immaturity, as the two words depict Tybalt's rudeness and disrespect. Saucy translates to insolent, and princox translates to an insolent boy, or in other words, a "saucy" boy. The choice of words really intrigued me, which led me to analyze and better understand the situation, which shows how Shakespeare's writing effectively depicts situations, and invokes interest in readers.

Act 2 Scene 2: Inside Out: Juliet's Mind (Prompt F)
THE ROMEO AND JULIET VERSION
(Before Romeo comes, Juliet is on the balcony lost in thought)
Fear: But what if he doesn't really love me. I'm only 13. I don't know if I really want to start this...
Romance: He loves me so much and I do too. I couldn't be happier.
Joy: This is totally the best day of my life!
Fear: But he's a Montegue and I'm supposed to hate him...
Joy: Whatever, he's a kind guy that only wants the best for us. It'll all work out.
Joy: Whatever, he's a kind guy that only wants the best for us. It'll all work out.
Anger: Why do the Capulets have to hate the Montagues? I mean really, what are we even fighting about? Does anyone know what we are fighting about? Someone's cat jumped over onto the other side of the fence or something?
Joy: I Romeo though is totally worth it....don't worry... It'll all work out....
Joy: I Romeo though is totally worth it....don't worry... It'll all work out....
Romance: And his eyes are so charming! Because of his eyes, it's TOTALLY worth it :)
Act 2 Scene 2: Romeo and Juliet's relationship
Romeo and Juliet's relationship
Prompt D
Romeo and Juliet have just experienced love at first sight during the ball. Since then they feel they cannot live apart from one another. It looks like there is an invisible force that attracts them to each other. However Juliet is tormented by rational thoughts, but Romeo does a good job in showing her that he understands her fear about his name and his sudden love. Nonetheless they show us that they are in love and inseparable due to these new feelings happening to them.
Act 1 Scene 5
Prompt B
Tybalt- Why was he so quick to attempt to assault Romeo?
Juliet- What Made her fall for Romeo at first sight even though behind a mask?
Tybalt's Uncle Capulet: Why does he allow Romeo to stay and tell Tybalt to back off.
Nurse: Why does the Nurse try to get Romeo and Juliet together?
Romeo: Why did he sneak into the party to find Rosaline or to find someone new?
Scene 2 Act 2: Prompt C - Rashelle Golub
Scene 2 Act 2: Juliet says, "O, swear not by the moon, th' inconstant moon, That monthly changes in her [circled] orb, Lest that thy love prove likewise variable."
I found this quote to be actually very beautiful because at first I thought to myself "why wouldn't Juliet want Romeo to sweat by the moon." But then I realized that the moon is an inconstant thing, as Juliet says. It changes every months and sometimes even goes away. Therefore Juliet didn't want Romeo to swear his love on something that goes away and isn't there all of the time.
Act 1 Scene 5: A Spark of Love
Prompt D

I choose this photo of a sparkler to represent the spark that Romeo and Juliet had when they first met and spoke to each other. Romeo and Juliet show instant chemistry after their first conversation leads to a romantic kiss. This spark can resemble the chemistry or connection they have between each other. A sparkler starts with a spark and continues to grow just like the love connection between these two lovers.
Prompt C:

I think that this shows the relationship of romeo and juliet. In this story they talk a lot about in the stars, and star crossed loves, fate. I feel like this shows romeo and juliet, the brightest stars, it was meant to be that they are the brightest ones.
Act 2. Scene 2.- The Rose
Prompt C
In the balcony scene Julliet said "What's a Montague? It is nor hand, nor foot, nor arm, nor face, nor any other part. Belonging to another man. O, be some other name! What's in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other word would smell as sweet..." I really like the comparison Julliet made with a rose and the word "Montague". She was finding the deep meaning and why Montague was such a bad word to mention within her family because it was just a word that should be as sweet as any other word. I think this is when she realized that she did not care if Romeo was a Montague because she loved him and that word did not mean enough to her to separate her from Romeo.
Act 1, Scene 3: Mother-Daughter Relationship
Prompt E:
Juliet and the Nurse have a mother-daughter relationship. The Nurse looks at Juliet as if she was her own daughter. In one of her speeches, she compares Juliet to Susan, her daughter, showing how attached and how much she cares for her. She says, "Susan and she (God rest all Christian souls!) Were of an age." Also implied in her speech, she tells us that Lady Capulet was not the one who rose Juliet most of her life. Lady Capulet did not want to be part of the breast feeding, and the Nurse's daughter had passed. Because of this, the Nurse has taken the role of breast feeding from Lady Capulet. When Lady Capulet talks to Juliet about marriage, the Nurse understands how Juliet feels because she is the one who raised her. Like any mother, the Nurse embarrassed Juliet quite a bit in her speech, and Juliet did not scold her, but instead begged her to stop.

Act 1 scene 1 - Act 2 scene 2
Romeo and Juliet: How did you know you were in love after one night? Are you ready to get married? Why are you willing to disobey your parents to be together? What is your plan after you get married? Why are you rushing into this so quickly?
Act 1 Scene 5: Challenge to Authority
In Act 1 Scene 5, it seems like Lord Capulet's relationship with Tybalt is a little strained. This is shown when Tybalt sees Romeo at the party. Tybalt wants to kill Romeo, but Capulet completely denies him. Tybalt gets angry, and Capulet then also gets angry. This shows that they might not like each other very much since they get angry so easily. Tybalt also seems to be someone who doesn't bend to authority very easily, as he repeatedly denies Capulet's requests to stop before eventually giving in.
Act 1, Scene 5 | Prompt D ; The Frustrating Feeling of Love
I feel like this picture best represents the way Romeo and Juliet first met at the party. It's kind of that feeling how they don't know who they are, and where they belong to, but they both love each other. Here, it demonstrates the frustrating feeling that they must have had when they love each other, but they can't really put together the pieces that make up that person. Relating to the picture, these dinosaurs are both in love, but they can't quite hug. With Romeo and Juliet, they love each other, but they both don't know each other.
Act 2, Scene II: Juliet's view on her love
Prompt C:
Act 2 Scene II Juliet:
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet."
This line explains how Juliet doesn't love Romeo any less because he is a Montague, she questions why a name makes a difference to how people feel and act towards one another. She says that a name is just a name, it doesn't make them different based on that. To Juliet, Romeo would just be as perfect if he wasn't named Romeo.
Act 1 Scene 5: An Inquisition
Prompt B:
Tybalt: Why do you care so much that Romeo is there? Do you want to make a scene?
Lord Capulet: I know you want to keep things quiet, but why not casually escort Romeo away?
Montagues: Are you trying to get in trouble? Do you know what would happen should you be caught, especially by Tybalt?
Romeo: Is it your habit to decide you have to kiss someone within hours of meeting them?
Juliet: Did you find Paris interesting or were you not paying attention?

Act 1 Scene 2 - Act 2 Scene 2
Questions for the Characters
Capulet- Why are you so determined to get Juliet married, when you at first told Paris that you didn´t want Juliet to be married for another couple of years?
Romeo: How did you forget Rosaline so quickly, when you were sure you couldn´t love anyone else?
Juliet: When you met Romeo, you barely spoke, and if he was wearing a mask, you did not even see his face. How did you know you loved him?
Juliet: When you met Romeo, you barely spoke, and if he was wearing a mask, you did not even see his face. How did you know you loved him?
Romeo and Juliet: Why do you talk to yourself so much?
Nurse: How and why would you let Juliet keep seeing Romeo, even though it was dangerous and they only just met?
ACT 1 SCENE 2: All Roses Will One Day Wither
Prompt E:
Romeo is very infatuated with Rosaline despite her indifference towards him. He proclaims to Benvolio that," Ne'er saw her match since firs the world begun"(33). This line very clearly depicts hows Romeo full heartedly believe that she is the most beautiful women there ever was. While the reason he is so entranced by her seems quite shallow in today's world, in these time men really did was a beautiful young wife to bear them children. I think that Romeo is very quick to speak such strong praises to a women who holds no favor to him, but as we see later in the book Romeo often crafts such wondrous compliments. This maybe because it is just Shakespearian language to exaggerate certain quality traits of a person and I am simply not familiar enough with his writing.

3) Juliet, before you met Romeo did you also hate the Montagues like many of the other Capulets?
4) Why does the Romeo answer the Nurse's question about who he is? Isn't it quite possible that the nurse will snitch on him?
5) Capulet, do you really hate the Montagues? It seems like you don't care that much because you refused to kick out Romeo.

Act I Scene 5: Lord Capulet the Pacifist vs. Tybalt the Aggressive
Scene 1.1 Capulet says to tybalt, "Content thee, gentle coz. Let him alone." This early scene in the play shows the possiblility of the Capulets and the Montagues ending their rivalry. Tybalt has informed Lord Capulet that a Montague has come to their party, and Lord Capulet tells Tybalt to be patient and to not disrupt the party. Tybalt on the other hand, is much more aggressive towards the other party and is ready to attack Romeo. Although Lord Capulets intention was to prevent the party to turn into one big fight, his actions demonstrate how the two parties could end their differences. This could be the first step towards the two families becoming friends.

Act 1, Scene 5: Romeo and Mercutio Crash the Party
Prompt C
Act 1, Scene 5 - Lord Capulet says to Tybalt, "You are a saucy boy." The line really explains Lord Capulet's character as well as Tybalt. Tybalt is always wary of the Montagues and really despises them, but Lord Capulet does not want to cause a scene. Lord Capulet is a little more wise and he cautions Tybalt from creating a scene, but once Tybalt begins pushing more and more for him to go after Romeo, Lord Capulet finally delivers the famous line. It shows that Lord Capulet does not shy away from insults and that Tybalt can become very uptight about things. The line is very humorous in the play. It sets the tone for both Lord Capulet and Tybalt, as Lord Capulet is set up as almost, in a sense, comic relief, while Tybalt is the uptight one who wants to fight the Montagues.

Act II scene 2: Difference in Romeo and Juliet's love
Prompt
This picture reminds me of Romeo and Juliet because they both are very different and come from different places, (Capulet and Montague). The sun is very different from the moon, so its like a forbidden love they have because in Act II scene 2, she says how she wishes he wasn't a Montague.

Act 2, Scene 2: Two Blundering, Hormonal Fools in "Love"
Prompt E:
Romeo and Juliet are well known as "star-crossed lovers" in the literature world, as Shakespeare poetically dubbed the pair. But what makes their relationship any better than another? Romeo and Juliet are, after all, still barely into their teenage years when they decide to declare their love for one another and marry. Furthermore, Romeo's object of adoration changes in an instant from Rosaline to Juliet -- it isn't a stretch to think that the same would happen again. Romeo's capricious nature is moreover evidenced when he stabs his wife's cousin. His actions thus imply that he is little more than a hormonal teenager with poor anger management. On the other hand, Juliet talks to herself like she is a little girl, and disrespects her father and mother(albeit for possibly good reason at times). The pair of mentally unstable teenagers are then told "no", setting off a chain of events that ultimately spiral into the deaths of the "star-crossed lovers" and the treaty between the Montagues and Capulets. Thus Romeo and Juliet concerns two spoiled ingrates from rich families falling in love with each other at a party, then committing suicide over it less than a month later. No sane pair of people, no matter how smitten with each other, would do that so impulsively and quickly.

2. Why does the serving man ask Romeo if he can read?
3. Why does Lady Capulet say Juliet is "a stranger in the world" but lets her marry Paris?
4. Is Romeo only talking to the serving man to get closer to Juliet?
5. Why does Paris say "younger than she are happy mothers made?" What does that mean? Is he trying to say that the younger you are as a mother, the happier you'll be?

Act I Scene II: Confessions in the Dark
When reading Romeo and Juliet's love scene (Act 2 Scene 2) we think of one of Shakespeare's most famous scenes in all of his plays. The image that comes to mind is forbidden love and that very theme has been carried over to countless other stories. Shakespeare's message is to convey the fact that love is love regardless of what people say. To me, when I read this scene, a picture of rose comes up with stars in the background. When I googled it, the closest thing that came up was the image to the right. We see a rose almost as of it was painted with a galaxy brush. I think that this image is an accurate representation of this scene for a couple of reasons. First of all, the stars are very reminiscent of Shakespeare's famous saying - "star-crossed lovers"- which used to denote the fact that their love was fate. Next, we all understand that the rose is the classic symbol of love. However, I believe that the colours of this specific rose symbolize Romeo and Juliet's love. The darker colours (black and blue) symbolize that their love is still in the shadows as it is forbidden. I wished that I was able to find a younger rose to show that their love was still new and still 'budding' into this world. Overall, I believe that this image truly describes the central idea in Romeo and Juliet's balcony scene.
Act I Scene 5: Sudden Changes... of the Heart?
Romeo - What made you fall in love you with Juliet all of a sudden and completely forget Rosaline? Was it because of her looks?
Juliet - How did you end up falling in love with Romeo at the party? I mean, all he did was say some poetic words and that's it. That's how to win over your heart? Then again, you are only 13...
Tybalt - What is your deal with Romeo specifically? Is it because he is the son of Montague or did something happen between you both that makes you specifically angry at him? Was it because he was hitting on your cousin or just because he came to the party or what?
Lord Capulet - Even though Romeo wasn't technically doing anything bad during your party, why did you even allow him in there if he is the son of your enemy? I get that you were trying to be a gracious host and all, but still, you should've at least had some guards tell him to leave or else, or something like that, since Tybalt did have a point.
Nurse - Why does you not start to panic or anything when you find out that Romeo was a Montague AND he had kissed Juliet, the daughter of Capulet? She should've at least told someone of Romeo and Juliet's kiss or possible feelings to one another.

Act 1 Scene 1: The Friendship of Romeo and Benvolio
Prompt E
Romeo and Benvolio are cousins in the Montague Family. They are both very close and this is shown in Act 1, Scene 1 when Romeo comes out of nowhere and starts talking to Benvolio. Benvolio notices that Romeo is looking a bit depressed and asks him about it. Romeo tells Benvolio that is in love with someone (Rosaline) who does not like him back. Benvolio, being his friend, tries to give him some advice and tells him to try and forget about her. But Romeo doesn't really listen to Benvolio and still goes after Rosaline.

Act 2 Scene 1: Their Confession of their Love
Romeo and Juliet are madly in love. Even though they have only known each other for a night, they know they want to marry each other. In this scene, Romeo confesses his love for Juliet, but Juliet is still skeptical like when she says "Yet if thou swear’st Thou mayst prove false". Although, Romeo, being a bit greedy asks Juliet, how was she going to leave him without any satisfaction. When on the balcony, Juliet's nurse starts calling her and she has to say goodbye to Romeo. Juliet tells Romeo that she will send her nurse to find him and ask him about marriage.

Act 1 Scene 1 Montagues vs Capulets
The entire feud between the Montague's and Capulet's reminds me a lot of the current presidential campaign. The Democrats and Republicans hate each other and will do the opposite of each other, not because it is good or bad but simply because they hate each other. This is similar to the two families since they are both similar, are from the same towns, but still hate each other. At this point they don't even know why they hate each other, and they continue to fight because of an extremely old feud. Because of this both parties suffer a loss and hopefully they eventually but the fight aside and get along, as they are quite similar.

Questions about Scene 1, Act
- Why do the two family's hate each other in the first place?
- How wealthy are both of the family's?
- How come the two family's keep fighting if they know there going to get intouble?
- This story reminds of like two celebrity families hating each other like a drama TV show.
- Why cant Juliet just pick who she wants to marry?
Prompt E:
Romeo and benvolio have a really good relationship. Benvolio is sad for romeo because he is heartbroken because he got rejected by Rosaline. They are also cousins which make them have an even greater bond. They also share their loves and their desired future with them. Later on they have fun together in the town before the party. Benvolio is always in search to have a great conversation with romeo.

ACT 1, SCENE 1: TAUNTING FATE
Prompt C:
Act 1 Scene 1 - Tybalt says, " What, art thou drawn among these heartless hinds? Turn thee, Benvolio; look upon thy death".(13) This quote really emphasis how deep the hatred is between the houses. Even though it is a simple squabble between a few members of the opposing houses, both cannot stand still while the other jabs at their pride. They threaten to take each other lives over such a small exchange, while later escalates towards a battle in the square between the families. This quote portrays how lowly the houses think of one another and the extent to which their hate runs.

Romeos Love (act1 Sc1)
The relationship between Romeo and Rosaline does not seem that stable. This makes Romeo seems like he falls in love so quickly, for he falls in someone that does not love him a and he does not know that well. Thought the whole Book and movie romeo is portrayed as someone that just seems to randomly fall in love with people he thinks are attractive. Romeo should not fall in love so easily, especially with people that he does not know anything about.
Act 1, Scene 1 | Prompt B ; Romeo's Broken Heart
Romeo - Later on, how will you feel about Rosaline then?
If she doesn't like you back, why not just move on?
Don't you think you'll find another lady to love later on in the future?
Capulet - Why do you think having your sword will have a such an impact on the loud noise? Won't it make it every louder if you actually kill someone?
Prince - Why are you so harsh to your subjects?

Romeo Can't Think of Anything but Love - Jaimie R
Act 1 Scene 1 Benvolio says, "Be ruled by me. Forget to think of her," to Romeo and Romeo responds, "O, teach me how I should forget to think!". These lines really stuck with me because it really shows how in love Romeo is. Romeo can not get his mind off of his love and has forgotten how to think of anything else. He is so taken by who he is in love with that it has become impossible for him to even try to think of anything but her. Even though Benvolio tries to get Romeo to think of something else he is unable to move his mind from his love. I found this very powerful in showing how in love he is.
Act 1 Scene 1- Romeo and Everyone Else
Prompt B:
Romeo: Was the love for Rosaline just love at first sight? Because she has never noticed you.
Montague: Why did you ask Benvolio to talk to Romeo instead of you talking to him?
Montagues and Capulets: What started the whole conflict between the two families?
Benvolio: Do you think Romeo is dumb for loving someone that he doesn't really know?
Romeo: Would you participate in the fight of the families if you were present? Or would you try to stop it?

Act 1, Scene 1: Broken Romeo
Prompt B
Benvolio - Why attempt to broker peace instead of fighting?
Benvolio - Why attempt to broker peace instead of fighting?
Lord Capulet - Why do you intend to fight the Montagues when you can barely walk without a crutch?
Prince Escalus - Why do you think that the death penalty is a fitting punishment for if the Montagues and Capulets keep fighting?
Romeo - Why are you so grief-stricken about Rosaline? Do you not think you will find another woman to love?
Act 1 Scene 1 The Fued
The Capulets and the Montagues are two rival families that break into a public fight and display acts of violence, and they are very disruptive. The Prince of Verona, Prince Escalus, even had to break up the fight, and the two families are threatened with death if they ever fight again. This reminds me of when my brother and I fight. We often call each other names and threaten to hurt the other. It seems like we are constantly at each other's throats trying to be the more dominant sibling. Our parents are tired of us fighting, much like how the Prince is tired of the constant fighting between both families.
Romeo and Benvolio's Friendship
Romeo and Juliet
(Act 1, Scene 1) Romeo and Benvolio
PROMPT A
What is happening in the play that reminds you of something that is happening in your life, on TV, in the news, etc. Summarize the issue in the play and in your life in a minimum of 5 sentences.
In this Act 1 and Scene 1 have showed similarity play into my life with my dear cousin who I always trust and tell everything. When Benvolio notices 'Romeo's sadness or sad hours' because of being rejected by his crush, has reminded me the time my dear cousin was having guy-problems and seemed bothered or solemn by it. Although, Romeo was rejected, my cousin was the one who rejected two guys in her school and felt guilty of hurting them since she knew she could have done it in a more approached way. She could not stop thinking of their hurt faces and the guilty that was eating inside of her. Romeo trusted to tell Benvolio his sadness of a woman/girl who had hurt him by not sharing the same affection/love. My dear cousin trusted me in telling me that two guys have asked her to be in a relationship with them. But she did not feel anything for those two boys.
PROMPT B
Ask 5 interesting questions about the reading OR address 5 questions to one or more of the characters from this section of the reading, as if you were interviewing him or her. Here is an example of a student responding to this prompt for Hamlet. Remember, just ask; you do not have to answer!
Romeo- Who do you cry for so disparately?
Benvolio- Why did you take your sward out to Prince Tybalt?
Tybalt- Why did you fight Benvolio?
Montague- Why do you hate so much the Capulet family?
Capulet- Why do you have the Montague family as enemies?

Find an image *MUST BE FREE TO USE OR SHARE – CHECK GOOGLE SETTING (photograph, painting, etc.) online that you think is a good symbolic representation of the scene as a whole. Insert the image and then discuss why you chose it and how it represents the scene. (1-3 sentences).
I chose this image because it represents the scene when Montague and Benvolio are talking about Romeo's sorrow morning. Also, when Romeo and Benvolio are taking about Romeo's rejection and sadness of the girl he loves not feeling the same way.

Act 1 Scene 1, Romeo and Benvolio

Romeo and Benvolio have a good relationship because they are cousin. Benvolio cares for Romeo when Romeo is heart broken because he was rejected by Rosalind. Benvolio is talking to Romeo outside his house and Romeo talks to Benvolio of how he is heart broken and has no love yet. A quote that proves Romeo is so into love is when he explains it to Benvolio. ¨Love is a smoke made with the fume of sights; Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers´ eyes.¨ Romeo would only say this to his best friend or his cousin Benvolio.
Prompt E: The relationship between Romeo and Juliet is a strong connection with each other because they love each other and they can't be split up. But Romeo and Juliet are suppose to be enemy's with each other because they came form different areas. So they met of secretly at her party but she was suppose to meet and dance with the royal prince but she saw Romeo and they slowly came next to each other and Romeo made the first move by holding her hand. That's there relationship with each other they love each other .

Act 1: Scene 1: A Rowdy Thumb-ping
The feud between the Montagues and Capulets reminds me, funnily enough, of the anger between the Republicans and Democrats. Despite being from the same place, the two families hate each other simply based on principle, and refuse to get along. Similar to this, republicans often refuse to compromise with democrats on many issues in the government, despite the fact we need compromises to save the entire U.S., and continually fight with each other based on grudges over the same issues. In both cases, they don't want to compromise until tragedy results of their prudence, causing them to momentarily get along. The comparison does devolve a bit in that the republicans are the main aggressors, while in R&J, neither family is completely at fault. However, there is still a surprisingly accurate comparison to be made.
Jessey Castillo - Act I Scene I : Capluets vs Montagues
This scene reminds me of my friends because sometimes when they are playing around it ends up turning out really bad at the end sometimes. Sometimes someones gets really mad over a little joke and they take it to far and they end up fighting or arguing. Like the Capulets and the Montagues when Gregory and Sampson started the beef with the Capulets and they got scared after and didn't want to admit it.
Act 1 Scene 1: Choky fight, Montagues vs Capulets
Prompt D
In my opinion, this grenade describes the first scene in Verona that when Sampson and Gregory trying to start the fight against Abram and another serving man from Montagues because grenade is unstable which as when Montagues and Capulets faced each others. It's small like our cellphones and easy to keep but when a grenade explode, huge explosion shows in front of people. This grenade is similar to when Sampson and Gregory try to insult Montagues. It seems like right before the fight that that makes nervous background what jack up to the battle.

Act I Scene I Romeo and Dogs
Prompt A
I feel as if Romeo is acting the way I act when I go to the dog park and after following a dog for five minutes it still won't let me pet it, even when later it comes up to me. I stretch my hand out to touch it, but it runs away, and I am devastated. Romeo is so sad that the girl he loved didn't love him back although he barely knew her, he locks himself away and cries. When the dogs don't love me, I do the same thing but on the inside. Later though, he will find another love, Juliet, and that is similar to how sometimes there is a really great, soft dog in the park that loves me and jumps up on me so I can pet it a lot.

Act 1, Scene 1
In this first scene of the first act of the play, I particularly found the prince's short monologue very interesting. I liked Prince Escalus's neutral position in the warring times between the Capulet's and the Montague's. I specifically liked the lines, "By thee, old Capulet, and Montague, have thrice disturbed the quiet of our streets and made Verona's ancient citizens cast by their grave-beseeming ornaments to wield old partisans in hands as old, cankered with peace, to part your cankered hate." The reason I really liked this line is because it shows the rationality of the prince by displaying his care for the peace of the city. It seems like the Prince is the only one who is sane, compared to being fueled by rage and hate like the Capulets and the Montagues, or heartbroken like Romeo.
Act 1, Scene 1: Sampson and Gregory are very lonely
PROMPT A
What is happening in the play that reminds you of something that is happening in your life, on TV, in the news, etc. Summarize the issue in the play and in your life in a minimum of 5 sentences.
Act 1 scene 1: In this beginning of the scene where Sampson and Gregory are going back and forth playfully arguing, this reminds me of the movie Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino. The reason being in this movie there are two characters named Vincent and Jules, who are very much like Sampson and Gregory because, they also playfully bicker back and forth. Sampson and Gregory begin talking about women, and make a lot of innuedo's. While Jules and Vincent make jokes about how to say a burger in French, and they also make a lot of innuendos. Finally, Vincent and Jules are also apart of a big mob, the mob is pretty much their life and family, and Sampson and Gregory are both Montague's so both pairs of characters are part of some sort of family.

Act 1 Scene 1 Montague and Capulet
This resembles what occurs in Act 1 Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet because, it resembles the incompatibility between the Montagues (as Fire) and the Capulets(As ice). Another way it shows a resemblance to this scene is when, Sampson challenges Abram after "Biting his thumb" at them. One other resemblance is that, the Montague and the Capulets end up fighting for the third time which represents the fists.
Act 1, Scene 1: The Fighting Begins

Capulet/Montague: What makes you feel more superior?
Romeo: What is the reason that you love Rosaline?

Act 1, Scene 1: Fighting in the Streets
Act I Scene I in Romeo and Juliet reminds me of politics in the U.S. In the play, there are two major houses who are rivals to each other, and they fight each other over it. In the U.S., there are two major political parties, and it can be very polarizing and cause major disagreements and violence. Both of these situations are examples of how rivalries can cause senseless damage and death. There are people with sense like the prince who can try to stop the fight, but it usually doesn't end up doing a lot and fights still happen.

Act 1 Scene 1 Family Feud
Prompt E:
Even though they are cousins, the relationship between Benvolio and Romeo seems a very brotherly one where each person comforts the other. When Benvolio learns that Romeo was in his room crying, he immediately goes to find out why. When Romeo asks "Dost thou not laugh?", it seems like he is expecting to be ridiculed for his troubles and that Benvolio just wouldn't care. However his response shows otherwise, "No coz, I rather weep." Benvolio is showing sympathy to Romeo because he know just how hard of a time he is going through. A simple cousin wouldn't go and try to comfort a person, but because they have a better relationship, he does go to comfort his cousin.

Act 1, Scene 1: Brotherhood
Prompt E
In this scene you can see the bond with Romeo and Benvolio. Benvolio sees Romeo mopping because he is not loved back by Rosaline. I saw that he told Romeo what was the reason for his sadness and you can tell right away that although they are friend's/cousins, it makes it seem like they are brother's. Benvolio even tries to cheer Romeo up by saying, "Be ruled by me..forget to think of her". Benvolio tries to lighten the mood by telling Romeo to focus on him and not her because he cares a lot for Romeo and wants what is best for him. It also gives you the feel in their relationship and how Benvolio is always watching out for him.

Act 1, Scene 1: I Bite My Thumb
Prompt C:
From lines 45 through 53 in Act 1 of Scene 1, Shakespeare demonstrates how absurd the feuding between the Montagues and the Capulets is. Samson bites his thumb, the equivalent of flipping the bird, at the servants of the house of Montague, with no good reason to do so other than provoke a fight. However, Samson is still afraid of causing a fight knowing that the law might not be on his side, asking Gregory "Is the law on our side if I say [I do bite my thumb at you]?". Nonetheless, a needless fight breaks out, disrupting the peace of Verona and angering the Prince. Shakespeare lets this fight be the introduction to the play in order to demonstrate how unnecessary the hostility between the Montagues and Capulets is.
