Scene 2 Act 2: Prompt C - Rashelle Golub

Scene 2 Act 2: Juliet says, "O, swear not by the moon, th' inconstant moon, That monthly changes in her [circled] orb, Lest that thy love prove likewise variable."
I found this quote to be actually very beautiful because at first I thought to myself "why wouldn't Juliet want Romeo to sweat by the moon." But then I realized that the moon is an inconstant thing, as Juliet says. It changes every months and sometimes even goes away. Therefore Juliet didn't want Romeo to swear his love on something that goes away and isn't there all of the time.

I love this quote too and your analysis of it helps explain the lines especially if someone was confused at first.

  2. I think that Juliet didn't want to be separated from Romeo with what the quote is saying.

  3. I found this quote interesting as well because you would want to be with someone the longest time possible not have a possibility of a split. Juliet tells Romeo to swear by himself because it gives her some sort of security when she knows he will always be there.

  5. I agree with you about that the moon is an inconstant things so what I think is, the reason why Juliet says "why wouldn't Juliet want Romeo to sweat by the moon." is that she just wanted to check true love from Romeo.
