act 1 scene 2

Romeo goes to the Capulets party and they see him there. Tybalt wants to kill Romeo so bad but doesn't because they are at a party. For the sake of now he will remain calm but swears to kill him when he sees him again. Paris continues with the party and calms Tybalt down. Without Paris the party would've been a disaster and Romeo probably wouldn't have met Juliet.
