Act I Scene II: Confessions in the Dark
When reading Romeo and Juliet's love scene (Act 2 Scene 2) we think of one of Shakespeare's most famous scenes in all of his plays. The image that comes to mind is forbidden love and that very theme has been carried over to countless other stories. Shakespeare's message is to convey the fact that love is love regardless of what people say. To me, when I read this scene, a picture of rose comes up with stars in the background. When I googled it, the closest thing that came up was the image to the right. We see a rose almost as of it was painted with a galaxy brush. I think that this image is an accurate representation of this scene for a couple of reasons. First of all, the stars are very reminiscent of Shakespeare's famous saying - "star-crossed lovers"- which used to denote the fact that their love was fate. Next, we all understand that the rose is the classic symbol of love. However, I believe that the colours of this specific rose symbolize Romeo and Juliet's love. The darker colours (black and blue) symbolize that their love is still in the shadows as it is forbidden. I wished that I was able to find a younger rose to show that their love was still new and still 'budding' into this world. Overall, I believe that this image truly describes the central idea in Romeo and Juliet's balcony scene.

This is a great way to interpert it and the details were good. I like the way you added "Start crossed Lovers" in there because it really ties it in to the story.
ReplyDeleteThis image beautifully depicts Romeo and Juliet's love, but I believe you are writing about Act 2 Scene 2 (the balcony scene), as in Act 1 Scene 2 Romeo and Juliet haven't met yet.
ReplyDeleteThe image perfectly shows the relationship between Romeo and Juliet.
ReplyDeleteThe image fits great with the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene since it takes place at night.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture you chose because it has so many dimensions of meaning to it and I feel like it really shows how entwined and star-crossed Romeo and Juliet are.
ReplyDeleteThis picture you picked was perfect for your entry, and your analysis was spot on.
ReplyDeleteThis picture is perfect at symbolizing Romeo and Juliet's relationship. Their love for each other seems to wilt like a flower due to Romeo and Juliet's short lives.
