Act 1, Scene 1
In this first scene of the first act of the play, I particularly found the prince's short monologue very interesting. I liked Prince Escalus's neutral position in the warring times between the Capulet's and the Montague's. I specifically liked the lines, "By thee, old Capulet, and Montague, have thrice disturbed the quiet of our streets and made Verona's ancient citizens cast by their grave-beseeming ornaments to wield old partisans in hands as old, cankered with peace, to part your cankered hate." The reason I really liked this line is because it shows the rationality of the prince by displaying his care for the peace of the city. It seems like the Prince is the only one who is sane, compared to being fueled by rage and hate like the Capulets and the Montagues, or heartbroken like Romeo.
