Act 1 Scene 1 Romeo's Sorrow

Prompt C:
"Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs; Being purged, a fire sparkling in a lover's eyes; Being vexed, a sea nourished with loving tears. What is it else? A madness most discreet, a choking gall and a preserving sweet"(23)Act I Sc I.  This line explains how he feels about love, and how it is very contradictory. Love is really sweet, but also suffocating, it is a mixture of many different feelings. It could even be the twinkle in a lover's eyes. It also shows the way that Romeo feels about love, he hates love but its too sweet to hate that he also loves it.

  1. Do you think Romeo's opinions about love will change over the course of the book? I really like how you connected the quote to his emotions, and I would agree with what you said
