Act 1, Scene 1: Fighting in the Streets
Act I Scene I in Romeo and Juliet reminds me of politics in the U.S. In the play, there are two major houses who are rivals to each other, and they fight each other over it. In the U.S., there are two major political parties, and it can be very polarizing and cause major disagreements and violence. Both of these situations are examples of how rivalries can cause senseless damage and death. There are people with sense like the prince who can try to stop the fight, but it usually doesn't end up doing a lot and fights still happen.

I'm interested to know why you compared US politics to Romeo and Juliet.
ReplyDeleteI think your connection of US politics to Romeo and Juliet is quite unique and insightful.
